Milwaukee, Wis. - Despite a team-best 16 assists by freshman setter Jack Malone (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice), Saint Xavier University dropped a Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) match to Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in three sets (18-30, 14-30, 27-30) Wednesday night at the Allen-Bradley Gymnasium in Milwaukee, Wis. The offensive attack for the Cougars was led by freshman outside hitter Aaron Porter (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South), who recorded 10 kills on the night. SXU had difficulty generating quality attacks in the first two sets of the match posting a combined 15 attack errors.

Freshman libero Justin Garcia (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) led the Cougars defensively finishing with five digs, while freshman outside hitter Matt Yerkes (Palos Heights, Ill./Marist) tallied four kills and two block assists. With the loss, SXU falls to 2-10 overall this season and 0-2 in the MAMVIC standings.

Saint Xavier (2-10 overall/0-2 MAMVIC) takes a week off before continuing its conference slate in a road match against Moody Bible Institute (Ill.). The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday, February 17, in Chicago.
