Bloomington, Ill. - Saint Xavier University sophomore Jacina Sims
(Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) qualified for the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60-meter dash during the Titan Invitational held last weekend at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. She qualified for the 60-meter dash with a qualifying time in the 55-meter dash of 7.30 seconds. Senior Lauren Dentzman
(Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also qualified for the national meet in the mile run. She recorded a time of 5:11.57. Both were "A" standard automatic qualifiers, the first individuals to accomplish this in SXU women's indoor track history. The 2010 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships begin on March 4 in Johnson City, Tenn.
Dentzman is also a member of the distance-medley relay (DMR) team that qualified for the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships the previous weekend at the Tadd Matzger Invitational in Kenosha, Wis. This is her second time qualifying for the national championships in the mile run, the first of which occurred in 2008 as a sophomore. She placed 15th in the mile run in 2008 with a time of 5:15.80. Dentzman also qualified in the 3K (3,000 meters) run as a freshman in 2007.
This Friday, the Saint Xavier University women's indoor track team will participate in the Chicagoland Championships held in Romeoville, Ill., at Lewis University. The meet will start at 4 p.m.
