CHICAGO - Rachael Dean, a sophomore cross country and track standout at Judson University in Elgin, Ill., has decided to transfer to Saint Xavier University to continue her academic and athletic career as a member of the Cougar women's cross country and track programs. Dean, a Lindenhurst, Ill., native, will be a junior next fall at SXU and will have at least two years of eligibility remaining for all three sports (cross country, indoor track and outdoor track). Saint Xavier University women's cross country and track coach Lisa Ebel is elated about Dean's decision to transfer.
"Rachael has a ton of running experience and is a natural leader, so I am very excited about all that she will bring to our program," said Ebel. "She had a great start to her collegiate career at Judson qualifying for Nationals as an individual in cross country in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. She has a very competitive spirit and an uncanny work ethic and I think she will fit in beautifully with our style of running."
In 2008, Dean graduated from Lakes High School in Lake Villa, Ill., where she was a four-year letterwinner under coach Kellie Doyle. She also received all-state recognition during her senior season at Lakes High School. Dean plans to continue her degree in nursing at Saint Xavier University next fall.
