CHICAGO - Kevin Maxwell, a senior setter at Brother Rice High School in Chicago, has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's volleyball program. The Chicago native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2010 and will compete for playing time on the court during the 2011 season.
Maxwell is the son of Steven and Delphine Maxwell of Chicago. He is currently coached by Brother Paul Ickes at Brother Rice High School. Maxwell also plays club volleyball on the D1 18 Green team based out of Chicago and coached by Matt Martin and Adam Beck.
"Kevin will bring a wealth of experience to the setter position," said SXU men's volleyball coach Robert Heersema. "He is playing at a high level both at the club and high school level and will be a valuable addition to our program."
