CHICAGO - Ariel Hinton, a senior shortstop at Crawfordsville High School in Crawfordsville, Ind., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The Crawfordsville, Ind., native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2010 and will compete for playing time on the field during the 2011 season.
Hinton is the daughter of Wayne and Christina Hinton of Crawfordsville. She is currently coached by Brian Norris at Crawfordsville High School. Hinton is looking to pursue a degree in pre-pharmacy next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Ariel is an extremely versatile athlete," said SXU softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She can play all infield positions, including behind the plate. Her energy and love for the game make her a perfect fit for our program."
