CHICAGO - Shooting an impressive 9-for-11 from the field and finishing with a game-high 24 points, senior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) led No. 3 Saint Xavier University to a 69-53 victory over Indiana University-South Bend (Ind.) in a big Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's basketball match-up Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center in Chicago. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 20-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference standings, while the Lady Titans fall to 14-5 on the season and 3-1 in the CCAC. The SXU defense did a great job of disrupting the IUSB offense throughout the game helping force 28 turnovers and generating 14 steals.

Junior guard Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) had a solid outing for the Cougars finishing with 14 points and game-best nine rebounds, while sophomore point guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe) chipped in 10 points and three rebounds. Marissa Young started in place of junior point guard Alex Barone (Joliet, Ill./Marian Catholic), who missed Saturday's game due to illness. SXU led nearly the entire game, but IUSB kept things close until about midway through the second half. Leading 44-43 with 12:15 to play in regulation, the Cougars used a 12-2 run to build a double-digit advantage, 56-45. SXU was able to keep the Lady Titans at bay the remaining eight minutes with the margin very getting below eight points the rest of the way. Junior forward Katie Hacker led IUSB with 13 points and also surpassed 1,000 career points with a three-pointer to open the game for her team.

Saint Xavier (20-1 overall/4-1 CCAC) heads to Palos Heights, Ill., on Wednesday, January 27, for a non-conference match-up with Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The road game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
