Men's Basketball - Sat, Jan. 16, 2010
Bourbonnais, Ill. - Freshman point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) finished with a game-high-tying 19 points, but it was not enough as Saint Xavier University fell to No. 20 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), 75-66, Saturday in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men's basketball action at McHie Arena in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Cougars (15-7 overall/3-1 CCAC) got off to a slow start offensively shooting just 29 percent (9-for-31) from the floor in first-half action and fell behind, 39-25, at the break. SXU also had trouble taking care of the basketball Saturday committing 15 turnovers in the game with nine of them coming off ONU steals.

Sophomore forward Phil Riggs (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) was the only other Saint Xavier player to score in double figures Saturday recording 12 points to go along with six rebounds. The Tigers were tough on the glass throughout the game out-rebounding the Cougars, 52-42. In addition, SXU had difficulty hitting its long-range shots converting just three of its 17 three-point attempts (18 percent).

Saint Xavier (15-7 overall/3-1 CCAC) takes a week off before matching up against CCAC foe Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) at home on Saturday, January 23. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip-off at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
