Georgetown, Ky. - Behind game-highs of 22 points and nine rebounds by senior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic), the No. 2 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team earned a 79-74 victory over No. 25 Georgetown College (Ky.) Saturday afternoon in Georgetown, Ky. The Cougars keep their record perfect at 17-0 overall with the key NAIA road win Saturday. In addition, senior guard Kathlyn McClain (Oak Forest, Ill./Converse College/Marian Catholic) had a solid outing for SXU finishing with 19 points and three steals.

The Cougars had impressive performances from junior guard Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) and sophomore point guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe). Both players finished with 10 points apiece for SXU. The Cougars were tough on the defensive side of the ball forcing 24 turnovers off 18 SXU steals. The Cougars controlled the pace of the game leading by 11 points, 39-28, at the halftime break and hanging on for the five-point victory.

Saint Xavier (17-0 overall/2-0 CCAC) heads to Joliet, Ill., on Tuesday, January 12, to take on Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
