Ave Maria, Fla. - Despite team-highs of 18 points and six rebounds by senior guard Larry Pikes (Richton Park, Ill./Alaska-Anchorage/Blackhawk East/Rich South), the No. 10 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team lost a tight road battle with Ave Maria University (Fla.), 79-76, Monday evening at Donahue Academy Gymnasium in Ave Maria, Fla. SXU had difficulty with its long-range shooting throughout Monday's game hitting just four of its 17 attempts (24 percent).
Sophomore forward Phil Riggs (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) also had a solid outing for the Cougars posting 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.
