CHICAGO - Despite 16 points and six rebounds by junior forward Jake Listebarger (Harvard, Ill./McHenry County/Richmond Burton), the No. 10 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team dropped a tough game to Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.), 65-53, in first-round action of the 2009 SXU Midwest Tournament Monday afternoon at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (12-4 overall) struggled shooting the ball hitting just 37 percent (19-for-51) of their shots from the field, including a 25 percent (5-for-20) clip in second-half action.

Besides Listebarger, senior guard Ken Black (Blue Island, Ill./Chicago Christian) was the only other SXU player to notch double figures in scoring Monday finishing with 11 points off the bench. SXU led by eight points, 35-27, at the halftime break, but scored just 18 points in the second half compared to 38 points by the Hornets. Junior forward Jarvis Walker led all scorers with 21 points for Harris-Stowe State on 10-for-14 shooting from the field.

Saint Xavier (12-4 overall/2-0 CCAC) takes on Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) in the loser's bracket on Tuesday, December 22. The day-two tournament game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
