Goshen, Ind. - Despite 15 points off the bench by junior guard Stan Mayfield (Snellville, Ga./McKendree University/Shiloh), the No. 10 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team shot just 36 percent (26-for-72) from the field and fell, 82-63, to Goshen College (Ind.) Tuesday night in Goshen, Ind. Both teams got off to slow starts offensively and the Cougars (11-3 overall) trailed by just three points, 37-34, at the half. However, the Maple Leafs shot 49 percent (28-for-57) in second-half action to pull away for the 19-point victory.

None of SXU's five starters hit double figures in scoring in Tuesday's loss with the group combining to shoot just 10-for-40 (25 percent) from the field. Junior forward Jake Listebarger (Harvard, Ill./McHenry County College/Richmond-Burton) provided a lift off the bench as well scoring 11 points for the Cougars. Senior guard Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) finished with eight points, 10 rebounds and three assists for SXU. Senior guard Errick McCollum II led all scorers with 24 points and became Goshen's all-time leading scorer Tuesday with 2,278 career points.

Saint Xavier (11-3 overall/2-0 CCAC) takes on Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) on Saturday, December 19, in Westville, Ind. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
