Joliet, Ill. - The Saint Xavier University men's basketball team had a big week last week defeating No. 7 ranked Georgetown College (Ky.) and also Loyola University-New Orleans (La.), a team receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. A big contributor last week for the Cougars was sophomore forward Dominique Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), who has been named CCAC Men's Basketball Division I Player of the Week for the week ending November 29.
In the 82-70 win over Georgetown, Harvey had a solid game for the Cougars with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. Thirteen different players scored in the 80-72 win over Loyola in a very balanced victory for the Cougars. Harvey contributed seven points, five rebounds, three blocks and an assist in Saint Xavier's seventh consecutive win. The Cougars' seven-game win streak and perfect season record was disrupted with a 79-73 loss to Huntington University (Ind.), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Division II poll. Harvey tallied nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the loss. In the three games combined, Harvey averaged 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Saint Xavier (7-1 overall) hosts CCAC newcomer Holy Cross College (Ind.) tonight at the Shannon Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
