Men's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 28, 2009
CHICAGO - Despite 13 points off the bench by junior guard Marco Samimy (Peterson Woods, Ill./CICS-Northtown Academy), the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday falling, 79-73, to undefeated Huntington University (Ind.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (7-1 overall) got off to a slow start and fell behind 36-29 at the halftime break. SXU had trouble rebounding the ball in Saturday's match-up with HU winning the battle of the boards, 41-30, and also got into foul trouble with two of its starters, senior guards Julian Scott (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) and Larry Pikes (Richton Park, Ill./Alaska-Anchorage/Blackhawk-East/Rich South) fouling out of the game.

Scott had a solid all-around game for Saint Xavier finishing with eight points, seven assists and four steals. Sophomore forward Dominique Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) also played well posting nine points and four rebounds. The Cougars had 12 players on their roster score at least a point in the game and did a good job of distributing the ball around to the tune of 17 assists.

Saint Xavier (7-1 overall) returns to action on Wednesday, December 2, with a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) game against Holy Cross College (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center.
