CHICAGO - Despite 19 points apiece from senior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) and sophomore guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe), the No. 7 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team dropped its final exhibition game of the 2009-10 season Sunday falling 69-64 to NCAA Division I Loyola University (Ill.) at the Gentile Center in Chicago. The Cougars (4-0 overall) trailed by 19 points (53-34) with just over six minutes remaining in the game before making a furious rally attempt that brought them to within three points, 58-55, with 2:12 left to play in regulation.
Hannemann also finished Sunday's exhibition with a game-best 10 rebounds. Both teams got off to a slow start offensively in the opening 10 minutes with the Ramblers clinging to a 12-9 lead.
