CHICAGO - Senior Amy Poull (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) led the way with a 66th place individual finish as the No. 24 ranked Saint Xavier University women's cross country team matched its national ranking by finishing 24th as a team Saturday at the 2009 NAIA Cross Country National Championships at the Fort Vancouver Historical Site in Vancouver, Wash. Poull finished the 5K (5,000 meters) course in a time of 19:51 to lead the Cougars, while senior Amanda Janosz (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) also finished among the top 100 individuals at No. 89 with a time of 20:04.
Sophomores Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) and Kelly Malone (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) were next across the finish line for SXU in 111th and 112th place, respectively, with times of 20:21 and 20:23. Senior Lauren Dentzman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) wrapped up the team scoring for the Cougars in 119th place with a 20:27 clocking. Rounding out the top seven for SXU were juniors Jade Braden (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) in 150th place at 20:48 and Dana Eppley (Palos Heights, Ill./Shepard) at No. 177 with a time of 21:23.
Saint Xavier wrapped up its cross country season for 2009 Saturday with its third consecutive appearance as a team at the national meet. The Cougars finished 19th overall in 2008 and No. 20 to end the 2007 campaign.Click here for results from the NAIA National Women's Cross Country Championships
