Palos Heights, Ill. - Despite an early second-half goal by junior forward Kelly Steinhaus (Lemont, Ill./Lemont), the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team could not overcome an early 2-0 deficit and fell 3-1 to Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday afternoon in Palos Heights, Ill. The Cougars (8-7-1 overall/4-3-1 CCAC) were outshot, 22-4, in the game, including 11-4 on shots-on-goal. The Trolls improve to 9-4-3 overall with the victory and 7-0-1 in the conference.

Trinity Christian got off to a fairly quick start scoring its first two goals within three minutes of each other in the 21st and 24th minutes, respectively. The first came off the foot of senior forward Alyssa Lee on an assist by senior midfielder Claire Comerouski. Comerouski, following a pass by sophomore midfielder Allison Doyle, then scored the Trolls' second goal of the day. In the 49th minute, Steinhaus found the back of the net on a breakaway to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. However, TCC pulled away in the 75th minute when junior forward Errika Comerouski scored off assists by Doyle and freshman midfielder KC Roller.

Saint Xavier (8-7-1 overall/ 4-3-1 CCAC) heads to Deerfield, Ill., on Saturday, October 24, to take on CCAC foe Trinity International University (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
