Palos Heights, Ill. - Behind two goals by senior forward George Mihai (Chicago, Ill./Garden City CC), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team had little trouble pulling away for a 3-0 road victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon in Palos Heights, Ill. In addition, senior keeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) recorded shutout No. 9 for the 2009 season finishing Tuesday's win with four saves. Mihai scored the first two goals of the game, both coming in the first half. The first one came in the game's 24th minute off a shot in the box set up by an assist from junior midfielder Ben Johnson (Woodridge, Ill./Western Illinois University/Naperville North). In the 27th minute, Mihai used a free kick from 20 yards out to put SXU ahead, 2-0. Nearly 10 minutes into the second half, the Cougars added an insurance goal when freshman midfielder Rob Gacek (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) took a cross from senior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point) and found the back of the net for the game's third and final goal.
