Palos Heights, Ill. - Sophomore middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) finished with team-bests of eight kills and two solo blocks, but it was not enough as the Saint Xavier University volleyball team fell to Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) in three sets (23-25, 19-25, 16-25) Thursday evening at Palos Courts in Palos Heights, Ill. The Cougars fall to 12-16 overall with the loss and have now dropped seven of their last eight matches. The Queen Bees improved to 26-17 overall with Thursday's victory.

Freshmen outside hitters Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) and Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) each posted seven kills for SXU, while sophomore setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded a team-best 27 assists. Sophomore libero Erin Sebo (Downers Grove, Ill./St. Scholastica /Downers Grove North) tallied four digs for the Cougars as well.

Saint Xavier (12-16 overall/2-3 CCAC) will take part in the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Big Guns Classic on Saturday, October 17, in Joliet, Ill. The Cougars will play two matches Saturday with the first against Montreat College (N.C.) at 9 a.m. and the second versus Cornerstone University (Mich.) at 1 p.m.
