Men's Soccer - Tue, Oct. 13, 2009
Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior goalkeeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 11 when the conference office announced the recognition Tuesday afternoon. Pickett has now claimed four of the seven weekly honors this season after notching the award the first three weeks of the 2009 season.

Despite SXU only playing one game on the week, Pickett made the most of the opportunity recording 10 saves, including one on a penalty kick attempt, in a 2-0 victory over CCAC defending champion Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) last Tuesday. Pickett earned his seventh shutout of the season with the victory, one for every win the Cougars have posted this fall. He currently leads the CCAC in shutouts and save percentage (91.2).

Saint Xavier (7-3-1 overall/3-1-1 CCAC) is taking a break from its conference slate and heading down to Florida for a pair of games this week. The first game will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, against Northwood University (Fla.). The second game of the trip is Saturday, October 17, at 6 p.m. against NCAA Division II Flagler College (Fla.).
