Kansas City, Mo. - Saint Xavier University junior quarterback Anthony Kropp (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) continued to have the accolades roll in when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) named him this week's NAIA Offensive Player of the Week late Monday following his record-setting performance in a 51-0 homecoming victory over Quincy University (Ill.) this past Saturday. Kropp completed 22 of his 30 pass attempts (.733) for 470 yards and also tallied seven passing touchdowns to set a new SXU single-game record. In addition, he finished with a passer efficiency rating of 281.93, setting another school single-game mark.

"Anthony was tremendous, and if this were a basketball game, I would say he was ?in the zone,'" said SXU football coach Mike Feminis. "He made all the right reads and threw with great accuracy on just about every throw. Plus, what a night to have a performance like that on Homecoming, with all of our great quarterbacks of the past (Billy Yeo, Jeremy Zientek, John Perryman and Casey Drown) in attendance to watch him."

One of the most amazing aspects of the night was that all of Kropp's stats occurred in the first half as the Cougars held a 48-0 lead at halftime. Of his seven TD tosses, five of them covered at least 20 yards in length. He averaged 21.4 yards per completion and helped lead an offense to tally 620 yards of offense. Former SXU quarterbacks Jeremy Zientek and Aaron McGuire held the previous individual single-game passing touchdowns record at SXU with five apiece. The Cougars also notched a team record for passing touchdowns in a game Saturday surpassing the previous mark of six against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) back on September 20, 2008.

Kropp currently ranks second in the NAIA in pass efficiency (196.4) and fourth in overall total offense (1,408 yards). It is the first time SXU has had a national player of the week since October 7, 2008, when senior cornerback Chris Rodgers earned the special teams recognition for blocking three punts in a single game.

Saint Xavier (5-0 overall/2-0 MSFA) heads to Upland, Ind., on Saturday, October 3, to take on MSFA Mideast League foe Taylor University (Ind.). Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. central time.
