CHICAGO -- Melissa Painter, a transfer from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, will conclude both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University in Chicago as a senior goalkeeper for the Cougar women's soccer program in 2005. Prior to playing at William Penn (Iowa) during the 2004 season, Painter spent two seasons playing soccer at American River Community College in Sacramento, Calif.
Painter played high school soccer at Elk Grove High School in her hometown of Elk Grove, Calif. She was coached by Seth Boyle, while at Elk Grove. Painter is the daughter of David Painter and Rene' Boyle and plans to pursue a degree in business administration at Saint Xavier University.
"Melissa comes to SXU with three years of college playing experience, which is great for our program," said Saint Xavier University head women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She will be a senior and help with leadership and will also battle for the starting keeper job this fall. Melissa is very quick and has good organizational skills in the back."
