Bourbonnais, Ill. - Behind a season-best 30 points and eight steals from junior guard Kathlyn McClain (Oak Forest, Ill./Converse College/Marian Catholic), the No. 8 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team quickly got back to its winning ways with a 79-70 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tuesday night at McKie Arena in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Cougars (22-4 overall) led nearly the entire game and were able to extend their lead to as many as 17 points to help push their first-place conference record up to 8-1 overall.

Junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) also had a solid outing for SXU Tuesday logging her 11th double-double effort of the season with 14 points and team-high 14 rebounds. She also surpassed the old single-season scoring record for the Saint Xavier University women's basketball program of 529 points set by former Cougar standout Mary Cain during the 2001-02 season. Following Tuesday's game, Hannemann has 540 points for the 2008-09 season.

Junior guard Angie Bush (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) also finished with 14 points for SXU, while sophomore guard Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) chipped in 11 points. Senior forward Brooke Peterson led the Tigers Tuesday with 21 points and game-high 15 rebounds. McClain shot 12-for-25 from the field, including an impressive 6-for-13 clip from three-point range, to record her big scoring night.

Saint Xavier (22-4 overall/8-1 overall) wraps up its regular season and conference slate on Saturday, February 28, with a road game against Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Chicago.
