CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis continued to strengthen his 2009 roster with the additions of three more prep standouts in offensive lineman Ryan Kuhn, defensive lineman Mac Stevenson and tight end Kody Kanaga. Kuhn played at Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., under coach Jim Stuglis, while Stevenson played prep football at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Ill., under Dave Mattio. Kanaga hails from Metamora, Ill., and was a two-year starter at Metamora High School in Metamora under coach Pat Ryan. Metamora won the IHSA Class 5A state championship in 2007 and finished as runners-up in 2008.

Kuhn is 6-0 and 255 pounds and was a 2008 Northwest Herald First Team All-Area selection. Stevenson is 6-4 and weighs 235 pounds and was a first team all-conference selection last fall in the East Suburban Catholic Conference. Kanaga comes in at 6-2 and 215 pounds and was a 2008 Peoria Journal Star First Team All-Area selection and started at both tight end and defensive end at Metamora.

"Ryan was a standout on both sides of the ball for a very good team, but we think his future at SXU will be on offense at guard," said Feminis. "He is a strong, physical young man, who has a chance to be a very solid player in the near future.

"We think Mac is a steal for us," continued Feminis. "He has a great frame and moves very well for a guy his size. I can easily see him getting to 260 or 270 and being a major force on our defensive line sooner rather than later. Kody is the first recruit we have ever had from Metamora, which might be the best 5A program in the state. He was a tremendous two-way player and our number one tight end recruit. He is a physical blocker, but is athletic enough to play in the slot as a receiver or even as an H-back. Kody will help us right away."
