Women's Basketball - Mon, Feb. 2, 2009
Kansas City, Mo. - After three straight weeks of claiming Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, Saint Xavier University junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) took it to another level and earned the NAIA Women's Basketball Division I Player of the Week award Tuesday by scoring 30+ points in each of the team's two games and setting a new SXU single-game scoring record during the week ending February 1. Hannemann scored 30 points last Wednesday in Joliet, Ill., in a 66-55 conference road victory over rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). She then followed that impressive outing by setting a new single-game scoring mark at Saint Xavier when she scored 39 points in Saturday's 110-75 conference home win over Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.).
On the week, Hannemann averaged 34.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over the two-game stretch and shot an outstanding 75 percent from the field (27-for-36). In addition to her scoring and rebounding, she also tallied four assists, three steals and three blocked shots. Hannemann also garnered CCAC Player of the Week recognition this week for the third consecutive time and seventh already this season.
Saint Xavier (18-3 overall/4-0 CCAC) returns to action tonight hosting conference foe Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
