CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis recently got three more commitments by incoming freshmen recruits from the Chicagoland area in offensive linemen Tyler Smith and Matt Munizzi as well as Frank Nava, a defensive lineman coached by Bryan Stortz at Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, Ill. Smith played at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Ill., under coach Rob Zvonar, while Munizzi played prep football at St. Rita High School in Chicago under Todd Kuska. Coach Feminis feels that all three incoming freshmen have the physical attributes to contribute on the field as early as next fall.
Smith is 6-5 and 270 pounds and lives in Frankfort, Ill., with his parents David and Tracy Smith. Munizzi is 6-1 and weighs 240 pounds and is a Chicago native with his parents, Mark and Debra Munizzi. Nava comes in at 6-1 and 250 pounds and lives in Lake Zurich, Ill., with his parents Frank and Rosie Nava.
"Tyler and Matt were at the top of our list for offensive linemen, so our coaching staff is ecstatic," said Feminis. "Both of them are physically ready to play and will be expected to compete for a spot on our travel squad as freshmen. Frank is the same way on the defensive side of the ball. He is a thick player, who can probably help us on the inside immediately."
