Joliet, Ill. - Junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) added another impressive game to her outstanding season by dropping 30 points to lead No. 8 Saint Xavier University to a 66-55 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) in NAIA women's basketball action Wednesday night in Joliet, Ill. The Cougars (17-3 overall/3-0 CCAC) came out on fire offensively shooting 59 percent (17-for-29) in first-half action to take a 46-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Junior guard Kathlyn McClain (Oak Forest, Ill./Converse College/Marian Catholic) also had a big game for SXU recording 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Senior forward Abiola Amure (Chicago, Ill./St. Scholastica) led the Cougars on the boards with a game-best 12 rebounds. Senior guard Amanda Mistretta led the Fighting Saints in scoring with 12 points. The loss for USF drops them to 11-11 overall this season and 2-1 in the conference standings.

Hannemann helped lead the offensive surge in the first half scoring 19 of her 30 points before halftime. She finished the game shooting 11-for-18 from the floor. Saint Xavier jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the game's first four minutes, but St. Francis (Ill.) cut the lead to seven, 29-22, with six minutes to play in the half. However, a 17-5 scoring run by the Cougars to end the half created the 19-point halftime advantage. The big lead was never seriously threatened after halftime with the 11-point win margin the closest the game got after the break.

Saint Xavier (17-3 overall/3-0 CCAC) returns home to face Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) for a conference match-up on Saturday, January 31. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
