CHICAGO - Junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) shot an impressive 7-for-8 from the field and finished with a team-best 16 points to lead the No. 9 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team to a convincing 77-49 win over visiting Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in non-conference NAIA action Saturday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (14-3 overall) pulled away late in the first half and racked up 28 steals as a team in Saturday's victory. Hannemann also finished with four rebounds and five steals toward the winning effort.

All 12 SXU players on the active roster scored at least two points in Saturday's game. Sophomore guard Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) was the only other Cougar to score in double figures finishing with 13 points in addition to her six rebounds, four assists and four steals. The Trolls had problems the whole game handling the defensive pressure put on by Saint Xavier and recorded 36 turnovers in the loss. SXU took complete advantage of the miscues posting 45 of its 77 points off TCC turnovers. Trinity Christian was led in scoring by senior forward Amanda Learned, who finished with 17 points. The Cougars led 39-26 at the halftime break and led by as many as 32 points, 62-30, with 12 minutes to play in the second half.

Saint Xavier (14-3 overall/1-0 CCAC) begins a three-game road trip on Wednesday, January 21, taking on Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in a non-conference match-up. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Milwaukee, Wis.
