Women's Basketball - Wed, Jan. 7, 2009
Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week when the conference office released the honor late Tuesday. Despite only playing a single game on the week, Hannemann made sure it was a big one by scoring 30 points and recording six rebounds, two steals and two assists in an 80-74 win over University of St. Francis (Ill.) in the championship game of the 2008 SXU Holiday Tournament back on Monday, December 29. Following the event, Hannemann was named the eight-team tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The 5-11 junior forward has captured the conference's weekly honor each of the last two weeks and three out of the previous four weeks. In fact, Hannemann has earned the recognition four of the eight times it has been awarded this season. She hit her season-high mark of 30 points by converting nine of her 14 field goal attempts and 12 of her 14 free throw shots in the game. Hannemann is currently the leading scorer (18.8 points per game) for the No. 9 ranked Cougars, who remained in the NAIA's Top 10 when the latest Top 25 Poll was released earlier this week.

Saint Xavier (12-3 overall) opens up its conference slate on Tuesday, January 13, with a home match-up against Robert Morris College (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
