Olathe, Kan. - A big 35-20 homecoming victory over No. 11 Geneva College (Pa.) Saturday helped push the Saint Xavier University football team up to No. 6, its highest ranking ever, in the latest Top 25 poll released Monday by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national office. The Cougars (3-1 overall) have moved up eight spots over the last two weeks after earning its first-ever top 10 national rating a week ago.

"It's a great accomplishment for our program and I'm excited for our players and coaches because they've worked very hard to get to this point," said Saint Xavier University head football coach Mike Feminis. "But like I told our players at our team meeting earlier today, we're 0-0 as far as I'm concerned, because the ‘real' season starts on Saturday against William Penn."

Saint Xavier also moved up the ranks in two other national polls that cover NAIA football. The Cougars jumped up to No. 7 in the latest Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette poll (Sept. 25), while climbing eight spots to No. 8 in the most recent top 25 poll released by NAIAFOOTBALL.NET Sunday.

SXU (3-1 overall) opens its Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League schedule on Saturday, October 1, with a road game against William Penn University (Iowa) in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
