Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week when the conference office released the honor early Wednesday morning. Hannemann averaged 17.7 points and 11.3 rebounds over three games on the week and also tallied two double-double performances during the stretch, which included three match-ups against teams all ranked among the top 10 in the 2008 NAIA Top 25 Preseason Poll.
The 5-11 junior forward authored her double-doubles against top-ranked Union University (Tenn.) with 20 points and 13 rebounds on November 21 and then tallied 15 points and 14 rebounds in the game against No. 9 Lambuth University (Tenn.) on November 22 as part of the three-day Jackson Rotary Classic. Saint Xavier dropped both of those affairs, a 91-62 loss to Union and a 65-52 setback to Lambuth. However, the Cougars did land a 55-54 upset win over No. 3 Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) on November 20. In that contest, Hannemann not only tallied 18 points and seven rebounds, but also came up with a steal on Freed-Hardeman's final possession to secure the SXU victory. It was one of five steals on the week for Hannemann. She also shot .525 from the field (21-of-40) and .846 from the free throw line (11-of-13) over the three-game stretch.
