Joliet, Ill. - Behind two goals and three assists by sophomore forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community), the No. 18 ranked Saint Xavier University women's soccer team picked up a big Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road win over rival University of St. Francis (Ill.), Tuesday in Joliet, Ill. The Cougars shut out the Fighting Saints, 8-0, in Tuesday's victory improving their league mark to 2-1 and their overall record to 5-2-1.

Senior midfielder Jen Belmonte (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) opened up the scoring for SXU with a 30-yard, unassisted shot in the 12 minute of play. Coby scored the next two Cougar goals in the 21st and 29th minute of regulation, respectively, off assists from junior forward Angie Holmes (Shorewood, Ill./Providence Catholic). Just two minutes after Coby's second goal, freshman midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley) scored a goal off a corner kick from Coby to put Saint Xavier ahead, 4-0, at halftime.

In the second half, SXU continued to score goals. Just two minutes into the second half, sophomore midfielder Aleks Sudar (Omaha, Neb./Bryan) scored the fifth goal for the Cougars off a cross from Belmonte. Holmes recorded the next score for Saint Xavier in the 54th minute of play on a cross from Coby. In the 64th minute, sophomore defender Caitlin Thornburg (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) received another cross from Coby to put SXU up, 7-0.

The final goal for Saint Xavier came with nine minutes to play in regulation when sophomore midfielder Natalie Liakopoulos (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) found the back of the net on a cross from junior midfielder Danielle Scartozzi (Crete, Ill./Calumet College). Senior goalkeeper Melissa Painter (Elk Grove, Calif./William Penn University) tallied four saves and picked up her fourth shutout as a Cougar.

SXU (5-2-1 overall/2-1 CCAC) heads to Spring Arbor, Mich., on Thursday, September 22, to face Spring Arbor University in a non-conference match-up set for 4 p.m. eastern time.
