Joliet, Ill. - The Saint Xavier University volleyball team had three players named to the 2008 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Honorable Mention Volleyball Team when the conference office released the teams late Saturday. Senior outside hitter Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) and senior libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) as well as freshman middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York) all represented SXU on the conference's honorable mention squad.

Gullickson played in all 45 of Saint Xavier's matches on the year and finished second in both kills and digs with 293 and 319, respectively. Guide was tough defensively for the Cougars leading the team with 681 digs over 45 matches as well. Scudder had an impressive debut season with SXU posting 251 kills, 94 total blocks, and a team-best 43 service aces in 44 matches.

Saint Xavier ended its 2008 campaign with an overall record of 12-33 and finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the CCAC standings with a 6-4 mark. The Cougars secured the No. 5 seed in the eight-team CCAC Tournament due to conference tie-breaker rules and was eliminated in the first round by No. 4 seed Trinity Christian College (Ill.).
