Michigan City, Ind. - Scoring 61 points in the first half behind 55 percent (22-for-40) shooting from the field, the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team rolled to a convincing 118-62 win over Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Michigan City, Ind. Senior guard Amir Resic (Prijedor, Bosnia/East-West/Mather) had the hot hand for the Cougars Saturday scoring a game-high 26 points, including a 7-for-9 clip from beyond the three-point arc. SXU improves to 3-2 overall this season with the victory, while PUNC falls to 1-4 on the year.

Sophomore guard Mike Johnstone (Mount Greenwood, Ill./St. Laurence) also had a big game for Saint Xavier scoring 20 points and pulling down five rebounds. Sophomore guard Dan Palombizio (Michigan City, Ind./New Buffalo) chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds in his hometown return, while senior guard Paris Davis (Maywood, Ill./St. Joseph) also scored in double figures with 13 points. All 12 SXU players who saw action in Saturday's game scored at least a point toward the winning effort. The Cougars dominated every facet of the game out-rebounding PUNC, 39-23, and winning the turnover battle with just 16 compared to 28 by the Panthers.

Saint Xavier (3-2 overall) takes a week off before continuing its schedule next Saturday in a road game against Huntington University (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. (eastern) start in Huntington, Ind.
