CHICAGO - Despite jumping out to an early 9-3 lead to start the game, the No. 13 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team fell, 86-66, to NCAA Division I foe University of Illinois-Chicago (Ill.) in exhibition play Tuesday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Junior guard Angie Bush (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) led SXU in scoring Tuesday with 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field. Sophomore point guard Alex Barone (Joliet, Ill./Marian Catholic) also scored in double figures for the Cougars with 10 points in addition to her game-high eight steals. Rebounding was a problem for Saint Xavier in the ballgame with the much-taller Flames winning the battle of the boards, 57-26. However, the Cougar defense was able to cause some disruption for the UIC offense recording 14 steals and helping to force 23 turnovers. In fact, SXU scored 23 of its 66 points off the Flames' miscues.

Saint Xavier (1-0 overall) returns home to take on Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) on Saturday, November 15, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
