Bourbonnais, Ill. - Despite eight kills and two block assists by freshman middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match with No. 18 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tuesday night in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Cougars (11-26 overall/6-3 CCAC) lost the match in three straight games 18-25, 16-25 and 14-25. SXU now sits in fourth place in the conference standings with a 6-3 mark and one CCAC match remaining against University of St. Francis (Ill.), a team currently in second place in the conference standings with a 7-1 mark.
In addition to Scudder, senior outside hitter Mallory Winkler (Chicago, Ill./Queen of Peace) finished with seven kills and team-best 15 digs. Senior middle blocker Chelsey Guay (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba) finished Tuesday's match with six kills, while senior right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) tallied 11 digs and four kills for SXU.
Saint Xavier (11-26 overall/6-3 CCAC) heads to Georgetown, Ky., this weekend to take part in the two-day Georgetown College Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars kick off the event with a 1 p.m. (eastern) match Friday against host Georgetown.
