Men's Soccer - Wed, Oct. 8, 2008
Bensenville, Ill. - Despite a pair of goals by junior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team lost its second straight game in overtime Tuesday night falling, 3-2, to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Robert Morris College (Ill.) in extremely rainy conditions at the Redmond Athletic Complex in Bensenville, Ill. The Cougars lost a tough 1-0 decision in overtime Saturday night against Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The loss drops SXU to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference standings, while the Eagles improve to 4-6 on the year and 2-3 in the CCAC.

Robert Morris struck first in Tuesday's game scoring a goal in the 39th minute off a free kick by sophomore forward Arso Mitreski. In the 58th minute, Kekelik tied the game with a goal. However, just two minutes later, RMC took the lead again when senior midfielder Joe Nicoll scored from the left side of the box. Kekelik was able to tie the game again with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation to force the eventual overtime period. However, the Eagles scored the game-winning goal just over four minutes into overtime when senior forward Jerry Kocilek stole a clearing attempt by the Cougars at the top of the box and put a shot past the keeper for the victory.

Saint Xavier (5-7 overall/3-2 CCAC) heads to St. Augustine, Fla., this week to play a pair of games. The Cougars take on Flagler College (Fla.) at 7 p.m. (eastern) on Thursday, October 9, before wrapping up the trip on Saturday, October 11, with a game against St. Thomas University (Fla.) at 1 p.m. (eastern).
