CHICAGO - Despite three saves by junior goalkeeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to league-leading Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 1-0, in overtime in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday night in Chicago. The game-winning goal was scored on a header by junior forward Diego Dias off a well-placed corner kick by sophomore forward Graeme Port in the ninth minute of the overtime period. The loss drops SXU to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference standings, while the Scarlet Hawks improve to 8-3 on the year and 4-0 in the CCAC.

Junior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point) finished with two shots for the Cougars Saturday. SXU finished the game with a total of three shots-on-goal compared to four by IIT.

Saint Xavier (5-6 overall/3-1 CCAC) continues its season on Tuesday, October 7, with a road game against CCAC foe Robert Morris College (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
