Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University sophomore kicker/punter Tom Lynch (Frankfort, Ill./Southern Illinois University/Joliet Junior College/Lincoln-Way East) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week when the league released the honor early Monday. Lynch was instrumental in SXU's 66-31 home victory over Malone University (Ohio) Saturday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.

Lynch set a new school record during Saturday's game when he went a perfect 9-for-9 on his extra-point attempts surpassing the old mark of eight owned by both himself against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on September 19 and sophomore kicker A.J. Nichols (Tinley Park, Ill./Mount Carmel) against Trinity International University (Ill.) on September 27, 2008. Lynch also made a 31-yard field goal in Saturday's game and averaged 29.1 yards per punt on seven attempts.

Saint Xavier (8-0 overall/5-0 MSFA) is off to its best start in the 17-year history of the program and hosts Iowa Wesleyan College (Iowa) this Saturday in a MSFA crossover game. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and the program's senior class will be honored prior to the game.
