Joliet, Ill. - If the present trend continues, the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) may be forced to rename its Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award as Saint Xavier University senior goalkeeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) claimed the recognition for the third consecutive week Tuesday afternoon. In fact, Pickett has now claimed all three of the weekly honors that the CCAC has awarded thus far this season.
Pickett notched his fourth straight shutout last Wednesday recording five saves in a 2-0 road victory over Goshen College (Ind.) to help his team improve to 4-1 overall this season. Goshen is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, which was released on September 8. SXU has been on a roll defensively having not allowed a single goal since its 3-0 road loss to then No. 6 ranked Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) in both team's season opener. This impressive stretch includes a 1-0 victory over then No. 2 ranked University of Rio Grande (Ohio) back on August 28.
Saint Xavier (4-1-0 overall) opens up conference play on Wednesday, September 16, with a game against Trinity International University (Ill.) in Deerfield, Ill. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
