Bourbonnais, Ill. - Behind a goal apiece from sophomore forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community) and freshman midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley), the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University women's soccer team defeated St. Ambrose University (Iowa), 2-1, Friday at the 2005 Tiger Classic hosted by Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. The win improves the Cougars' overall record to 2-0 this fall.

With just under two minutes to play in the first half, Coby scored the game's first goal off an assist from senior midfielder Jen Belmonte (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South). SXU added the eventual game-winning goal in the 65th minute of play when Coby found Scigalski open on a cross pass. St. Ambrose was able to record its lone goal of the game with just under seven minutes left to play in regulation when forward Amanda Wilsford found the back of the net.

The Cougars outshot St. Ambrose, 23-3, in the game and finished with 10 shots on goal compared to one by the Fighting Bees. Senior goalkeeper Melissa Painter (Elk Grove, Calif./William Penn University) got the start between the posts for SXU, but finished with no saves in the game.

Saint Xavier (2-0 overall) wraps up play in the 2005 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tiger Classic on Saturday, September 3, with a 12 p.m. game against Grand View College (Iowa).
