CHICAGO - Jennifer DiOrio, a freshman midfielder from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. DiOrio currently plays for Bill Lanspeary where she is a midfielder for the Lions of Lyons Township High School.
DiOrio is the daughter of Dominic and Joanne DiOrio of Western Springs, Ill. She is planning to pursue degrees in both English and psychology at Saint Xavier University. SXU women's soccer coach Jeremy Ekeler feels that DiOrio could play in either the midfield or on defense next fall for the Cougars.
"There are plenty of compliments I could give Jen, but the most important reason she will soon be a Cougar is because one of our current players came to my office after meeting her and said ?Jen is someone I want as a teammate,'" said Ekeler. "The first time I saw her play Jen flipped a bike in the box on an indoor surface. I knew this was a player I wanted to talk to, because we love risk takers and players from winning programs. Lyons Township is that type of program and have created a skilled, versatile and passionate player in Jen."
