Hillsdale, Mich. - Participating at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., this past weekend, the Saint Xavier University women's outdoor track team added two more qualifiers for the 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in May. The Cougars had their 4x800 meter relay team consisting of freshman Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Catholic Central), sophomores Dana Eppley (Palos Heights, Ill./Shepard) and Jade Braden (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) and junior Amanda Janosz (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) earn a "A" standard qualifying time of 9:33.81, which also broke the previous SXU record by 10 seconds. In addition, freshman Ijeoma Ibe (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) qualified individually in the triple jump with a "B" standard distance of 11.21 meters.

"Our relay team and Ijeoma did an incredible job this weekend," said SXU women's track and field coach Lisa Ebel. "This relay team has the potential to do really well at Nationals and is looking forward to competing there. Ijeoma is a very talented and hard-working athlete. I am very happy for all the success she is experiencing this season."

The 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will be held from May 21-23 at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. The 4x800 relay team and Ibe join the 4x100 meter relay team consisting of freshmen Ibe, Brittany Jackson (Elmhurst, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest), Jacina Sims (Park Forest, Ill./Rich East) and Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) as well as sophomores Annie Godette (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) in the 3,000-meter race walk and Katy Thomson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) in the marathon as national qualifiers for Saint Xavier University from the outdoor season.
