Olathe, Kan. - With a 21-14 win Saturday over No. 5 ranked McKendree College (Ill.), the Saint Xavier University football team moved into the No. 5 spot in the national rankings for the first time ever when the latest top 25 poll was released Monday by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national office. The Cougars own a 5-1 overall record; their hottest start since 2002, and sit at a perfect 2-0 in the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League.

Saint Xavier is also ranked No. 5 in two other national polls that cover NAIA football, Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette and NAIAFOOTBALL.NET. Both magazines released their latest top 25 polls on Sunday, October 9.

SXU (5-1 overall/2-0 MSFA) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Saturday, October 15, to take on MSFA foe Olivet Nazarene University. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
