Goshen, Ind. - Sophomore Annie Godette (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) recently qualified for the 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in the 3000-meter race walk at the Maple Leaf Invitational hosted by Goshen College (Ind.) in Goshen, Ind. Godette finished with the outdoor course with a personal-best time of 17:59.29, nearly 16 seconds under the NAIA women's qualifying "B" standard reporting mark of 18:15.00. She also qualified for Nationals in the same event during the 2008-09 indoor track season and claimed 13th place at the meet in Johnson City, Tenn., in early March with a time of 17:53.85.
"Annie continues to improve in this event as our season progresses," said SXU women's track coach Lisa Ebel. "I look forward to seeing her compete at Nationals in May and know that she will represent Saint Xavier University very well."
The 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will be held from May 21-23 at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. Godette is the first national qualifier for Saint Xavier University from the outdoor season.
