Joliet, Ill. - Sophomore second baseman Brittany Hannigan (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 29 when the conference office released the honor Tuesday. This is the first time this season that Hannigan has earned the honor and just the second time in her young collegiate career.
Hannigan guided the Cougars to a perfect 4-0 conference week with her .500 batting and .929 slugging percentages. She produced multiple hits in each of her team's first three games and added another three multiple-RBI games during the week to finish with eight total RBI. Hannigan authored all three of her extra-base hits in a 9-0 win over Purdue University-North Central (Ind.), where she went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and home run. Her other numbers during the week included four runs scored and a pair of walks.
Saint Xavier (14-11 overall/5-1 CCAC) takes on CCAC foe Olivet Nazarene University on Wednesday, April 1, in Bourbonnais, Ill. The doubleheader is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
