Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University freshman defensive back Casey Weidenbacher (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League Defensive Player of the Week when the league office released the honor Monday. Weidenbacher played a key role in the No. 9 ranked Cougars' 55-21 MSFA win over Trinity International University (Ill.) Saturday in Deerfield, Ill.

Weidenbacher led the Cougar defense Saturday with 13 total tackles (12 solos) and an interception. SXU shut down the Trinity International offense in the first half of Saturday's victory keeping the Trojans off the scoreboard, while the Cougar offense built a 41-0 lead.

Saint Xavier (7-2 overall/4-1 MSFA) returns home to face MSFA Midwest League foe Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday, November 5. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
