CHICAGO - A goal apiece in the second half by junior midfielder Melchor Castro (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) and junior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point) gave Saint Xavier University a 2-1 victory over visiting Judson University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men's soccer action Tuesday night at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The win ended a three-game losing skid for the Cougars, who improve to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference standings. The Eagles fall to 4-3 on the season with the loss and 0-1 in league play.

Just over 12 minutes into the second half, Castro notched the game's first goal on an unassisted shot 15 yards out that found its way to the top right corner of the net. Fifteen minutes later, Kekelik was on the receiving end of a deflected cross from senior midfielder Agustin Herrera (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) and punched it through the lower left corner of the goal. Trailing 2-0, Judson posted its lone goal with one minute remaining in regulation off a free kick by senior defender Adauto Oliveira from 30 yards out. SXU junior keeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) finished with one save for the Cougars.

Saint Xavier (3-5 overall/1-0 CCAC) continues its CCAC schedule on Saturday, September 27, with a home game against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field.
