CHICAGO - Despite nine kills apiece by senior right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) and junior outside hitter Stephanie Galas (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match of the season Tuesday night falling to Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (8-19 overall/6-1 CCAC) lost the match in three straight games 22-25, 15-25, and 22-25.

Senior libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) led SXU defensively with 11 digs against the visiting Trolls. Freshman setter Jaclyn Major (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) helped set up the offense for Saint Xavier posting 26 set assists in the match. The Cougars had difficulty finding their serves throughout the match committing 11 service errors on the night.

Saint Xavier (8-19 overall/6-1 CCAC) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., this weekend to participate in the Holiday Inn Express Tournament hosted by Olivet Nazarene University. The Cougars begin their first of four matches on the weekend by matching up against Spring Arbor University (Mich.) in a 4 p.m. match Friday.
