Men's Soccer - Wed, Sep. 10, 2008
Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 7 when the weekly honor was announced by the conference Tuesday. It was the first time Kekelik has received the recognition this season, but the third time for the team, which swept both offensive and defensive player of the week honors following the opening week of the season.

Kekelik contributed to two-thirds of Saint Xavier's scoring in the Cougars' two matches on the week to garner the league's offensive accolades. He authored the game-tying goal in an eventual 2-1 victory over Cornerstone University (Mich.) last Tuesday before having a hand in on three of the Cougars' four goals in a 4-0 victory over Northland Baptist Bible College (Wis.) Friday. In the latter contest, Kekelik tallied the game's first and last goals, while also providing one assist.

Saint Xavier (2-2 overall) continues its season today at 3 p.m. with a non-conference home game against Aquinas College (Mich.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. In fact, four of SXU's next five games will take place at home.
