CHICAGO - Behind a team-best 10 kills from senior middle blocker Chelsey Guay (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team kept its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) perfect at 3-0 with a match win over Robert Morris College (Ill.) Tuesday night at the Gentile Center in Chicago. The Cougars (4-8 overall) won the first two games of the match, 25-22 and 25-23, but dropped game three, 23-25. SXU secured the match in game four with a 25-21 victory.

In addition to Guay, freshman middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York) also played well for the Cougars finishing the match with nine kills and team-highs of four blocks and two service aces. Senior libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) led the defensive effort with 21 digs. Freshmen setters Jaclyn Major (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) split the assists for SXU finishing with 14 and 12, respectively.

Saint Xavier (4-8 overall/3-0 CCAC) heads to Hastings, Neb., this weekend to take part in the two-day Hastings College Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars open the event with a 12 p.m. match Friday against Oklahoma Baptist University (Okla.).
